Who We Are

Liz Snyder, PhD, MPH
Owner, fork & plow

Liz Snyder is trained in environmental health and soil science.  Equally comfortable in the lab and in the community, Liz enjoys applying natural and social science research methods to address food system challenges and opportunities.  Through her work in academia, she has collaborated with grassroots organizations, governmental agencies, and global corporations.  Liz also serves as the co-chair of the Alaska Food Policy Council (AFPC), grows greenhouse tomatoes, dipnets for salmon, and keeps backyard chickens.

The consultancy collaborates closely with its sister food system consulting outfit, Spork -- along with a geographically and experientially broad network of collaborators.  Liz Snyder (of Florida) and Spork owner Melissa Heuer (of Alaska) originally hail from wildly disparate latitudes, but share a passion for improving food availability, access, and utilization. From oranges to salmonberries, alligator tail to moose steaks, catfish to halibut, southern comfort food to circumpolar subsistence, Liz and Melissa come together in their love of all things food.
